Why is a carrot more orange than an orange?

Well I would say that the outside might possibly be more orange, but when you peel an orange, the flesh is definately more of a yellow-ish orange than orange orange. Still...I don't think that even the orangest of oranges could compare to a carrot. Close...but it isn't generally the case.
